New Google Earth Control

Here is a visualization of the 19 county region. Using your mouse you can move around on the map and zoom in close to see the labels on the data. Each of the color wedges represents a traded cluster. If the wedge extends beyond the circle that means the county has a higher than expected concentration of people employed in that cluster.

By clicking on the round buttons you can seeĀ individual businesses by their cluster. Click on the big square either return the map to a centered view or shifts you to a side view from somewhere over Topeka, KS.

A new way to look at data with Google Earth

AMI has been working on new ways to show the data we have been analyzing. The flash image shows one of the most exciting views. Using data sources from the AMI’s research and Implan we took developed a file for Google Earth that shows county by county what are the strong clusters and what are the business in that cluster. Each business has an icon that relates to the cluster and a “tower” that relates to the employment.

You will note that some business show up a few time, check Hawker Beechcraft in Saline County for an example. This really helps show the concept of cluster, HBC shows up in Manufacturing, Transportation Equipment and Security
